Information model

Definition

The information model is a strucutural model of the business domain. An information model is an abstract but formal representation of entities including their properties, relationships and the operations that can be performed on them.

(Own representation, wikipedia)

Remark

A information model may cover only parts of the business domain, such that different information models are necessary to cover the complete Domain. This is due to the fact, that the business domain is an inherently large entity whose structural aspects can not be targeted in a single information model.
